Hi toonkate
I had a very similar situation - but in my case they refused to see me for all kinds of spurious reasons. The only thing that actually got me the treatment that everyone who knew me said I needed was to contact my MP and the local PCT and set the situation out before them. That was after I had gone through the complaints procedures, both informal and formal. In my case the truth turned out to be that my local mental health authority had a policy of closing the lists and not accepting any new referrals when the waiting list reached 6 months. Have hope and keep fighting. I am now seeing a psychologist who is challenging me but relaly helping me. PM me if you want to know more. It's a long story! C |

Hi toonkate, I know it is frustrating! In the UK the waiting lists are very long. I had to wait an awful long time.(but I would like to add that I have now been with my T for 4 years and was well worth the wait.) Also I believe that the psychiatrist will not refer you to a psychologist until you are stable enough to have therapy. Don't give up though, I actually rang the psychological dept several times and I think this helped to move me up the list. While you are waiting you could ask your doctor if you could see a counsellor, if you think this might help. I hope you get to see a psychologist soon. Take care
