Just found out that my insurance will not reimburse any of my Therapy fees. Which means, I can only see my T once a month...twice, if I really really penny pinch.

I Know that seeing her at all is a blessing, and I shouldn't really complain, but this is going to be so hard. Maybe it's a good thing, I don't know. What can I do in between sessions so I don't obsess over not seeing her/handle my issues on my own so that I am not so dependent on her?

I don't know which bothers me more, the fact that I will be seeing her less, or the fact that I am totally FREAKED about seeing her less...

Thanks for this!

Unfortunately, she does not. I am hoping though, that next week, I might be able to talk to her about it. Maybe she will make an exception? I was her client like 10 years ago for a long time, and started back up with her again after a break...maybe since there is a longer history she might? I hope...

I am grateful though that I can at least see her at all...

Wolfin I'm sorry your insurance won't cover. I am in the same boat, but t offers a reduced rate (not much but it helps) for those who don't have insurance. I hope you can work things out.

In between sessions I like to journal and of course I come to PC for support.

I'm sorry to hear this... what an upsetting change especially because you have no control over it.

Maybe she could give you a break, maybe not... is it possible for you to find a new T who uses a sliding scale to determine the fees?
Thanks for this!

That sucks, I thought that most T's offer sliding scales or reduced fee's! can you ask T if it was possible to email during sessions if you really needed to vent about something.
Thanks for this!

That truly is an awful feeling....I experienced that a few years ago, my insurance capped my sessions and I ended up not finding out until I owed T nearly $1000.....and had to pay out of pocket for the remainder of the year....I made it work, BUT....now that I am an unemployed single mom, with unemployment running out in a couple months, no full time job yet and a mortgage...this private insurance also is now capping my sessions. So, as of this month, I may have to start paying out of pocket which I truly cannot afford to do...

SO....I may be in a similar boat. I've been in denial about it.....story of my life, just deny it and it doesn't exist....SMH

Mixedup...I am so sorry to hear that! And that really stinks that they didn't tell you until you had racked up a bill like that! I totally hear you about the denial too.

button30...I didn't even think about emailing her. I will have to write that down to remember to ask her when I see her next week!

Emptty...I know, I thought most did the sliding scale thing too, but on her website it says no...so I am hoping it is not updated! I have thought about another T, but I really really like the one I am with, and it was so hard opening up to her I don't know if I can bring myself to do that again. But thank you for the idea and it is an option that I admit I may have to explore.

You never know until you ask. My pdoc said more of her peers are doing reductions because something is better than nothing in this economy. I hope it works out for you somehow.
