http://www.amazon.com/The-Power-of-N...e+power+of+now.

My current therapist said it was a good read, and he was right about this one. There is a lot of "fluff" but a whole lot of truth as well.

A quote:

"Real love doesn't make you suffer. How could it? It doesn't suddenly turn into hate, nor does real joy turn into pain. As I said, even before you are enlightened - before you freed yourself from your mind - you may get glimpses of joy, or of a deep inner peace, still but vibrantly alive. These are aspects of your true nature, which is usually obscured by the mind.

Even within a normal "addictive" relationship, there can be moments when the presence of something more genuine, something incorruptible, can be felt. But they will only be glimpses, soon to be covered up again through mind interference.

It may then seem that you had something very precious and lost it. Or your mind may convince you that it was all an illusion anyway. The truth is that it wasn't an illusion, and you cannot lose it. It is part of your natural state, which can be obscured but can never be destroyed by the mind."

When you are ready to let go of the pain, it's woth a look for sure.

Read it a long while ago. Like all books, things click when reading them, but are then forgotten.

Perhaps you meant like all books for you. As an adjunct to therapy, I have, on occasion, found them to be quite valuable.

This is one of them - for me of course.

Yes it is a wonderful book. I also like 'A New Earth' which for some reason resonated with me more.

I have seen many recommendations for this book, but haven't read it (yet ).
The concept of staying in the Now is useful and is anxiety relieving. I did put that to use, and still practice it.

Thank you for your recommendation - the book sounds valuable to me and I appreciate you sharing your thoughts about it!

I enjoy this book whenever I read it. I get something different, I quess depending on where I'm at then.

It talks about problems as mind-constructed pain. How anxiety is fear of the future, and guilt etc about the past. Live in this moment, there are no problems in the now. Problems in the now are only situations to dealt with, accepted or postponed until they can be dealt with.

Easy to say, hard to do! For me, anyway. This book is clear and gives me things to think about.
