OMG, omg, omg. So panicking right now. My T told me that the p-doc she refers out to usually has a several week waiting list for appointments, so I thought, "good, I'll have plenty of time to work through my terror and get ready for this." Well, just heard from the p-doc's office manager, and of course, their first new patient appointment is NEXT MONDAY!!!! I'm so freaking out. I just emailed T. I'm hoping I can maybe schedule a brief call with her on Monday before the p-doc appointment, just to help me work through the terror a little.

Getting an appointment quickly is really a good thing because the sooner you go see the doc, the sooner the doc can recommend treatment. But the doc can only do this if you tell him/her what your issues are. They are not all knowing beings. Just remember that if meds are prescribed, most take a while to work, and some may not work at all. Your pdoc may modify or change your meds. Some may work for awhile then stop working. Don't give up. I have been ttying different treatments for 30 years and still have not found the right ones.

Having a trusting relationship with your pdoc is very important. I hope all goes well for you on Monday.
Thanks for this!

I'm glad you got an appointment! Maybe it would help you to write down what you feel you need to share with the p-doc, so you have something to go off of when you get in there. If you are able to meet with your T beforehand, you could practice there, too.
Thanks for this!

That is wonderful!! The waiting time for a new patient pdoc appointment can be horrible. Try to take this as a gift and just be grateful for small favors. It will be fine. Help is hopefully on the way, and fortunately much quicker than expected. I'm happy for you.
Thanks for this!

Thanks guys. I'm still seriously freaking out about this. I know I'm lucky I was able to get an appointment so quickly - T was estimating 5+ weeks. I really need to talk to T, but I know that Weds are her super busy days, and she works late. I am super busy today and working late as well. I think, if I haven't heard from T by noon tomorrow, I'll call her, because I don't know if I can do this appointment without some help.

I'm glad you were able to get a quick appointment. Just think - you have the terror of the first appointment for only a few days instead of weeks. Fingers crossed you can talk to your T beforehand.
Thanks for this!

Still flipping out over this! T always replies to emails within 24 hours, and she didn't reply to my email. I understand that she just may not have had time, but this feels very urgent to me. T promised she would contact the p-doc before my first appointment, but we both expected it to be several weeks out. I called T this morning, and got her voicemail, so I left a message. I told her when my appointment is and asked if she could contact me today.

I don't want to seem like a pest, but I think it's really important that we connect before my p-doc appointment. I really hope T doesn't think I'm being annoying with the email yesterday and the phone call today.

Finally heard from T - she sent me a text message and asked me to call her on her cell later this afternoon. So, 2 and a half hours and I can talk to T. I've been panicking all day, and it seriously sucks!!! Yeah, that would be why I'm going to the p-doc in the first place, but I have to get through this panic enough to make it to the appointment on Monday.

I'm glad your T contacted you. Breathe, vent here, maybe go for a walk?
Thanks for this!

Sorry to keep posting, but I need somewhere to get these thoughts out.

Just got off the phone with my T. She was awesome as always and helped me to calm down. She also asked me to call her after my appointment on Monday and we set a time for that. T told me everything that she told the p-doc about me...which was...well...everything. I'm both freaked and glad about that. At least I won't have to get in to everything with the p-doc, but now he knows all about me as well. I feel a little better, and I just need to hold on to this feeling until Monday.

I really need to just let myself cry, but I'm in the office and can't yet. It has to wait until I get home.

Keep posting. We're listening. I'm just so busy with my own stupid therapist anxiety today that I can't think of much to say.

My T did that as well, told the pdoc what my deal was. It was a HUGE help. I didn't have to go through the shame and fear of trying to explain everything. At my first appointment, he pretty much ran down the symptom list for my disorder and said, "Do you have this? How severely and how frequently?" so it was really not a bad session at all. Uncomfortable, but definitely survivable.

I'm glad you were able to touch base with your T.
