so my therapist has laryngitis, but asked me to come to session today anyway. it was very different to see her ill, as she's never been sick in the four years i've been seeing her. something about it makes me worried (which is irrational, i know). i'm also feeling really vulnerable. i think i figured out that she is such a "protective" figure in my life, and for her to be not as strong right now makes me feel not as safe.

anyway, nothing profound, but i just wanted to share..

I understand totally. My T once told me she was having a medical test and that got me very scared. She had to reschedule my appointment or she wouldn't have told me. I think it's normal to worry when our T is sick especially if she has never been sick in 4 years!

It is unsettling when they are ill. I however would love it for the therapist to have laryngitus. It never helps me when she talks.
Thanks for this!

My therapist had an eye infection this week and had on glasses, which she never does. It made her seem elderly and frail. It's stupid, but I've been fearing for her life all week. I guess you can say the glasses "triggered" me.

My t had laringitous once and we had a session anyway. I did most of the talking, lol. But other than that, it was the same as usual. I don't think it wil be any different, just you will have to talk instead of t. But it's hard. I know your t will get better.

When mine is sick i find it very unsettling, because i have the urge to take care of her, cos that's my role in my family and she won't let me take care of her cos "that's not my job" and i feel helpless.
