The last Monday of this month will be my last therapy appointment. I'm "graduating". "Graduating" Therapy

My therapist is moving to another state, and he and I decided together that I'm ready to end therapy.

Even though I will miss my therapist, friend, confidant and mentor, I'm so ready to do this. I wanted to end therapy about a year ago, but t and I decided that I would continue for a bit to practice more the coping skills I was learning, etc.

It ended up being an amazing last year that led to more healing, awareness and self-understanding than I dreamed possible because it wasn't within my comprehension.

So, while I'm extremely reflective and sad at saying goodbye to this very important person in my life, I'm excited to continue this journey knowing that I will continue to heal and learn on my own with the skills I've gained.

A shell of a woman, fed by fear and emotion lacking understanding, walked into his door those years ago. A SURVIVOR is saying goodbye to so much more than therapy. So many of you have has played a big role in that process. Thank you.

KD

Happy graduation KD. It sounds like you have prepared well for this and are prepared to continue on your own. It is good to hear of someone who has made it as far as you have.

Hi KimmyDawn,

It is amazing to look back and see all the growth we've made....I'm glad you can see that! And I'm glad you've gotten to a point of growth where you can contemplate graduating from therapy, even though it is also a hard step in some ways.

Still thinking of you and sending you good thoughts and caring wishes as you are going through the farewell process with your T. If it goes like it did with my counselor, these last few appointments were a good time for us to think of the progress which occured, and the gratitude we felt for our working relationship....we talked about other things, too, but it felt good to be grateful and talk about the positive things together too.

Wishing you well, and still sending you caring thoughts.....

Hugs,
ErinBear

KD, you go, girl! As a recent therapy graduate myself, I can tell you it's kind of sad, but mostly wonderful. Congratulations to you on all the hard work you have put in to come to this point!

Love, Candy
