There's a lot of people that really hate therapy. So what is your therapy situation? was it voluntary, force, or other?

That's a bit of a broad question. I'm not sure what information you are looking for. Can you elaborate a bit?

Ah! The poll arrived. Now I understand what you are asking.

My therapy has always been completely voluntary and is not tied to my psych meds in any way, shape, or form.

I know that the hospital I use does require all patients to have an appointment set up with both a pdoc and a therapist before they are released. That doesn't mean they actually check on you later to see that you followed through though--they don't, but they do try to get patients to set up these appointments for continuity of care. It was a non-issue for me as I was already seeing my T before my first hospitalization, and it was actually through the hospital that I met my pdoc and continued to use him as my private pdoc after I got out. But neither my pdoc or my T require I see the other. They prefer it, but it isn't a requirement.

Mine's completely voluntary. I was functioning on meds alone, but just enough to know that there was MORE to getting better than just functioning!

I wasn't forced, but it wasn't voluntary either. It's not required for mediation... My t actually was the one who got me in to my pdoc who at the time wasn't accepting new patients. (I was going to just see the pdoc but she was full, then I found t who wanted me on meds, told me she knew a good pdoc, who happened to be the one who had turned me away, funny how things come around...)

My therapy is completely voluntary as well....I was on anti-depressants though for many years before seeing T, prescribed by my primary doctor - no pdoc. Now, I'm no longer on the anti-depressants, as my T wanted me to work towards being med free and facing my feelings instead of continuing to bury them. *sigh*

It's ironic that so many of us are doing this voluntarily, given how many complaints there are!

My therapy is completely voluntary, but that does not mean that I always like it. I think that it's normal for us to all have times that we don't. It's not like we are working on/talking about easy stuff all the time.

I was initially forced by the courts to do it. now it's completely voluntary but I can't wait to get out of there. I hate therapy. I've only had 1 therapist but I see my therapist as God's proxy. more like a priest's Confessional. the power differential makes me sick. I wrote about it in my profile.

I see my current T voluntatily. In the past my GP made me see a specific ED therapist but I didn't get on with her so left. I found I didn't engage with it as much when I had to go.
