Brené Brown's definitions of Connection and Belonging:

(As Read by my Therapist from Daring Greatly, by Brené Brown)

"Connection is the energy that is created between people when they feel seen, heard, and valued. When they can give and receive, without judgement.
Belonging is the innate human desire to be part of something larger than us. Because this yearning is so primal, we often try to acquire it by fitting in and by seeking approval which are not only horrible substitutes for belonging, but often barriers to it. Because true belonging only happens when we present our authentic imperfect selves to the world. Our sense of belonging can never be greater than our level of self acceptance."

Me: I like that.

Therapist: Yes, (pause) that's where you've come into.

Me: I see it. I feel it.

Therapist: Yeah, it's making all the difference. (silence) I have value. I have worth.

Me: I have value. I have worth.

Therapist: Yes.

Me: I remember when I couldn't say that.

Therapist: I do too? Yes, now you don't just say it. You believe it.

Me: Mmhmm - I do. I do.

** The quote by Brené Brown may not be exact. It was transcribed from my tape recorded therapy session, 12/17/12.

"All things Brene Brown". Ok but I don't see that as a positive.
Thanks for this!

So cool, GTGT!
It's great that now that you've formed a secure attachment with your t, you feel more self-worth and connection to others and feel you belong more.
I don't know much at all about Brene Brown, but these quotes sound nice so I don't get why it would be a bad thing. S
