...to be unwell!

Everyone around me seems to have some kind of cold/bug/virus/infection at the moment - it's only a matter of time before I manage to catch something, I'm sure - and now my T is a poorly bear too. Boo! I really hope she's able to recover before and enjoy Christmas. I know it's important to her.

So, it looks like I'm in the same boat as some of you and will be missing my 'last' session before the holidays. I'm not too bothered by it right this moment - I get emotionally numb when I'm this exhausted - but I've no doubt it'll hit me like a ton of bricks once I've slept. Not being in a great place I'd been holding out for this weeks session, and as it now stands, my next one won't be for another 23 days. It's gonna be tough to ride it out, for sure.

Also, I'm kinda gutted about not being able to give T her gift and the card I made... at least not this side of the holidays. No big deal though, I know, I can just give it to her when we next meet. I think I might actually wear the gift or at least keep it in my bag for the next week... perhaps it'll help me hang in there and feel connected to her whilst I'm disconnected from everyone else?

If anyone has any other useful tips/suggestions on how to cope over the next few weeks, I'm all ears. Mindfulness meditation and breathing exercises only seem to work when I'm quite calm or still emotionally, but I've yet to find anything that helps when I'm extremely anxious or distressed - so I'm always willing to try something new!

Yeah, hang out here

Maybe you could write in a journal to your T while she's sick, or send a get well card or two?

Everyone around me is sick too. 'Tis the season, huh?
Thanks for this!

I just got over being sick. It felt like I had been run over by a mack truck and then beaten - so I hope you don't catch it.

Same here. Especially the mack truck part. Brutal.

When I'm really really anxious, i can't even get in the frame of mind to do mindfullness. My anxiety is like "yeah right - I'll show you breathing".

What does help though, is to - even when the times I'm not stressed - to "tap" into the warm connected feeling I can experience at therapy and other places.

I just stop what I'm doing and bring that feeling forward.

I think it is more of a preventative than anything else.

As stopdog indicated, I really really hope that you don't get this. It's a nasty thing. People who have taken the flu shot are turning up positive for the flu.

Not a particularly virulent strain, but enough to make you wish you were dead.

My hair hurt. Not my scalp, - no - my hair.

Aaand guess who woke up this morning with ever-worsening flu symptoms? Yup, me! I'm currently curled up on my sofa with a blanket and bucket, and I'm considering going back to bed soon. This was kinda inevitable - what with being surrounded by germs 24/7 - but I wish it had happened a week or two ago... now's just not convenient! I'm going to pin the blame on T

SAWE, stopdog, and elliemay: I'm sorry to hear you've all been ill! It's no fun at all

Thanks for the suggestions regarding hanging in there. ECHOES, I'm not sure I could actually send a card, but writing anyway might help. That in turn would probably aid elliemay's idea of tapping into the connection - yay! Teamwork!

Rest and drink a lot of tea. I hope the duration is short.
