Hi Skittles,

Can you ask for an appointment specifically with the PDoc, to review your medications and treatment plan? If you like the PDoc who is in charge of your care at the clinic, maybe you can meet with him and ask if it is possible to see him more regularly. I'm not sure how the clinic's policies work, but maybe that is worth a try? Meanwhile, if the recent change of meds isn't working out, maybe it would be worth calling to see about going back on the Risperdal, if the change is causing trouble?

Thinking of you - take good care of yourself....

Take care,
ErinBear

Can you request to talk to your pdoc directly until you can get your meds straightened out? As far as your t maybe you can voice your concerns and see what she says. Try and tell her everything that is bothering you and you can decide if it is a relationship you want to continue. If it isn't working maybe she can help you find someone who is compatible.

Skittles,

If you are not coping without the meds it might be worth ringing your nurse or pdoc to see if you can go on a low dose for a while.

Share with your T how you feel, maybe you are ready to push things on a bit more now.

Take care.

She sounds like a shrink I had a couple of years ago! I saw a psychologist who was working for a psychiatrist, and she didn't know much about OCD and my problems. She told me stories about her family, too! Including sex stuff! With my OCD, she thought I choose which things will be clean, and which won't. She thought I just went, "This will be clean, this is dirty, this will be a clean thing..." If I could do that, why wouldn't I just make everything clean???

I agree, you should call to make an appointment with your pdoc personally. Anytime you have med problems, you should call, even if you don't have an appointment coming up.

Skittles, it's unprofessional for a T to talk about her family and stuff. She's here to help YOU, not to exploit you by having you listen to her personal stories. I'd say finding another therapist is a move in the right direction.
Getting off risperdal cold turkey is a bad idea. It needs to be tapered off.... Unless perhaps you were taking .25 mg? I don't know how that can be tapered....But if you were on 50 mg. or more, it should be tapered off gradually.
Take good care!
