I'm so sorry. That doesn't make sense that she can do that as you have to be licensed to be a life coach..that just confuses me...I hope she can't legally become one..

UGH.

I know that if I were to choose a life coach, I would be sure to do my research on that person first. Hopefully that will deter people from choosing your xT.

That was a quick implementation of Plan B! I hadn't thought of that in this case. I think some states requiring licensing for life coach, and some don't.
I imagine this feels very discouraging and painful all over.
Thanks for this!

It makes sense she would go that route.....use her "skills" in a similar manner. How disheartening though.
Thanks for this!

Yes, some of those jobs require no training, no education, no license.

It's okay, silent, you've done all you can do to get the word out. If a potential client looks her up online, they will know all about her. I also think that she's going to be very careful from now on, or she will not get off so lightly.
Thanks for this!

if you are here in New York which is in the USA yes therapists can change their focus / and type of clients they want to work with and what type of therapy they want to provide.

example a therapist who works here at the crisis center can at any time decide to open a private practice and be a yoga instructor, or a marriage counselor, or work just with children or work focusing only on DBT, or CBT, or EFT or even a life coach where they work with clients who have trouble dealing with day to day struggles in all areas of their life...

getting certified or licensed in the state of New York means you are qualified to be a therapist or psychiatrist or psychologist. it doesnt mean you can only work using one type of therapy, or not specialize in a set area of healing. it just means the state of New york recognizes you are now qualified to be a therapist, psychiatrist or psychologist in any area of the mental health field.career.

my own therapist works with all kinds of therapy but her specialty is deep relaxation such as hypnotherapy, yoga and other mindfulness therapies. At any point if she wishes she can turn her private practice into a yoga , mindfulness, hypnotherapy agency

You know what I'd be tempted to do?

a. Find out where she's practicing and post a note on the door warning anyone who comes in for an appointment.

b. Picket outside showing people what's she's done.

Not that I'd have the nerve, but yeah.
Thanks for this!

And isn't she written up in the local newspaper? That ought to discourage some people?

Not for nothing. The ethical standards for life coaches are much less than for therapists.

xT has been dragged through the courts and also dragged through the press. I don't suppose she enjoyed that one bit.

silenthill,

You did good in exposing her for the fraud and @sshat that she is. It is unfortunate that she can just slide into another profession, and if the life coaches are dumb enough to count her among their ranks, that isn't your responsibility.

I know of a guy licensed to practice law, who committed many acts of lying for the purposes of lining his own pocket, whose law license was revoked. So he became a real estate agent (licensed). No offense intended to real estate agents, but WTF? I figure if his potential clients are too dumb to use google and find the many, many articles detailing his unethical activities, then caveat emptor, literally.
Thanks for this!

Why is it that bad people can bounce back so easily and for us it's so hard?
