Well im 17 yrs old and i just went through a break up with a girl i dated for 2 years it ended in here cheating on me. i told her i'd give her some time and then when i tried to put it all behind me she said she didnt love me anymore and she has no feelings for me. This obviously killed my self esteem and ive been having suicidal thoughts and get upset/angry aleast 1 time a day. Im asking this question because my problems seem kind of stupid i know it was just my first girlfriend and some teenage angst crap so i dont really know if it would seem for lack of a better word "whiny" if i went and vented these "problems" would i seem like a stupid teenager...?

I think that talking to someone helps. You're grieving a relationship. It's certainly worth giving it a try to see if you like it. Good luck!

You were in a long relationship with your first love...who hurt you deeply and badly. It sounds like you definitely can benefit from having a professional help you process these feelings. A good T who deals with adolescents will not find you "whiny" and will not think this is stupid at all. I certainly do not. I remember caring very, very deeply for my boyfriend at that age. If you are having suicidal thoughts, please, definitely get help!

Best!

I actually think at some point this happens to most people and it is hard but it does not mean one should a therapist. I mean one could if one wants, but I think it is a usual stage of life. Of course if you want to see a therapist, then give it a go.
