Does anyone ever feel like it is a small victory when T "gets" a point you are trying to make? Not because T isn't smart but because sometimes it is just hard to explain your point properly!

I had a moment like that yesterday with T that made me want to jump up and say "HOORAY! You got it! Go me!"

This was in response to T smiling as he says, "So, I should ask you how you feel more often."

*gulp* Yep.
Thanks for this!

I do enjoy it when my T understands something about me, even when it's really small. I was once kvetching about how another lawyer told one of my clients (who he was flirting with, hoping to get her business) that I was wrong about a federal filing deadline. It was the first time that I was filing this particular kind of case, but I had asked people I trusted and had already told her this. So I went mucking about looking for this small, hidden point in supreme court law and found enough indirect support by cobbling two cases plus already established understandings together. I wrote a 10 page brief on the issue as I'd analyzed it and then sent it to a leading lawyer in the area, who was nice enough to confirm what I believed. I was going on about I did all this work and it wasn't even anything that I charged her for. He just looked at me and said, "but I think you really enjoyed doing it." And he was exactly right, and I broke out into a big grin, that he just got that about me, seeing right through my kvetch to what was underneath.

Yes I feel that way too. And I agree with you - Go you! Victories are victories!

Sometimes I think she is getting it and she says something that is so 'not it' that I feel like we speak different languages

I am so glad to hear you say that! Sometimes I will ask a question, T responds from a direction that I never saw coming! I am like how did you come up with that response???! But, it is always incredibly insightful and well thought out, so T still gets credit from me albeit if I am shaking my head!
Thanks for this!
