How will you use it? What will it mean when you "Like" a post? How will it be different from when you use the "Thanks" button?

I often use the "Thanks" button as both. A way to thank the person for posting something I like or that I wish I could have put into words so eloquently.

What if we had one in session . Like a buzzer on a game show...
Ding!!=Like!!
Ding Ding Ding Ding!! = Really really really Like!!

Really. Could be an ice-breaker of sorts.

I am just afraid one day I will post that I am depressed as hell and somebody will like it :O (that's what I hate about "like" button on FB... I mean, should I press it when people post godawful updates when I don't wanna comment for lack of words?)

I don't mind a like button as such. But I hate the counting thing about the number of likes and that the likes show up in the middle of the post and the little heart thing.

Worse than having them thank you for being depressed?

I think it's hard, with one-word buttons to decide if we are liking/thanking/hugging the person or the sentiment/emotion or the subject, etc.

Even hugging, you'd think it would have to be the person but why are you hugging? Do you feel they are sad and need a hug or do you feel sad reading their post and need a hug so think they do?

If I ever like your being depressed, Venus, it will be because I like that you shared yourself and your struggles with me, how's that :-)

I agree with this. So I "liked" it and said "thanks" to see what the postings look like with both.

I think the like counter that shows up in the middle of the post looks like a knife trying to sever it in half.

I wonder if this has something to do with facebook, and increasing revenue on the psych central website through advertising. I also wonder if we are all going to get scolded for discussing this.
Thanks for this!

There are already 2 threads about this in the Tech Support forum, including a post from Doc John. They're trying this out for a week to see how it goes.

I thought it was nice this place that the "thanks" (like thanks for saying this, not thanks for being depressed!) instead of the stupid rating "likes" that most sites have. (sigh) And now it's in the middle of the post? That doesn't work well.

I like that there's a like button! But i don't like that it's in the middle of a post, it would be better going down where the hugs and thanks go.

Having separate lines for "thanks", "Like", and "hugs" is making each post too bulky, IMO. I like a cleaner look to the page and not so much wasted space. I would prefer it if those 3 things were compressed, perhaps just one line for all the thanks, likes, and hugs, with each in a different color.

Am I being very clueless here? I can't see where you 'like' something. How do you do it?

It seems to come and go; if you are (one's cursor) on the scroll bar, for example, there is no Like on any of a thread's posts. Anywhere outside the posts proper, it goes away.

I changed to the Desert Sand color scheme and now the Like button is gone. The Like/heart counter is still at the top of the page though. Weird.

Edited to say its gone from Tulip too. Must be gone!

Posting from my iPad. It was here earlier in the day!
