I have come to realise that you don't always have to specifically fix a problem in order to solve it. As (sigh) Yalom points out, sometimes it's about removing obstacles.

I had problems with catastrophising and procrastination before starting therapy. I have never once discussed them with my T, but they've miraculously improved since I started.

So maybe working to heal damaged emotions isn't a case of: right, here's the wound, what do I put on it. Maybe it's not so... tangible.
