Oh people....
![]() Right now I feel like anything but the lighter side, so I will combat it by telling something I thought was funny. Right at very end of our time I said something and T stopped, looked puzzled, and said, "hmm... say more...?" So I said, "OK. It's one minute after the hour." That wasn't at all what she meant and we both knew it. And it made her laugh. ![]() do you ever slip in a gotcha on your T? |

I still like when my T gave me the assignment to think about "humiliation" for the week and a boss where I worked humiliated me in public, making fun of my difficulty communicating clearly, and I learned so much about anger and setting boundaries, etc. and told her all about it the next session and we were celebrating and I guess she thought it was a good idea so as I'm leaving she suggested that week I think about "disappointment" and I blurted out, "Does that mean I have to spend the week being disappointed???!"

Last week, I told the marriage counselor about the CSA for the first time. It was near the end of the session and he wanted to keep talking about it and go over. He asked me yet another question and I glanced at the clock and said, "oh I'm sorry. Time is up. We have to stop there for the week." He actually grinned back at me and laughed.

I know there have been times when I have, but nothing is jumping to mind right now. I think without the lighter side of things, therapy can start to feel a little oppressive. Like I'm taking myself too seriously or something.

My t and i often take time out to be silly or tell jokes. I have a funny video of the two of us last year celebrating our birthdays and we were both laughing hard. We need to do stuff sometimes to break up the intensity of trauma therapy.

I'm British, and my T and I are both very sarcastic. Like one time he interrupted me and I said: "I'm still talking, did they not teach you about listening in therapist school?"
We laugh a lot, even when we're talking about really difficult stuff, but I'm having trouble thinking of specifics now. |

Oh and we seem to have this running joke that I will always find a different way to phrase my request for a cup of coffee. Last week I said: "Please could I have a cup of your finest therapeutic coffee?"
He said: "I haven't got the finest coffee, so you'll have to make do with this stuff." And I said: "So long as it's the finest you've got, I suppose it'll do!" Not sure if that's actually funny but it was to me. |

Mine commented that I tell her things about work when the hour is up and I am leaving. She went to comment back and I pointed out she couldn't as the hour was up. Up to then she didn't think I was aware of what I was doing. Gave us both the giggles but she said fair enough and shut up!
