I went to see my counselor today. We spoke for about 1 ½ hour and then she told me about a person in the same building... who knows oh so much about Asperger. She only "treats" persons having Asperger. So... my counselor went upstairs and came down again, having this woman with her. So we spoke for another hour.
I felt such relief finally getting to talk to someone who knows what she's talking about. I'm having a hard time getting to terms with my diagnosis. I just can't see all of my symptoms. Several times during today's conversation... this woman nodded and said: "I've heard that exact thing so many times before!" She asked me a few questions and my answeres did fit in with the Asperger diagnosis. For the first time after all these weeks, someone actually took the time to listen and explain. She's competent! I'm going to see her again on friday next week. I asked for it. She wants to get to know me and my issues, so she can tell me about my symptoms more in detail.
We also talked about my son and his Asperger. She gave me some new tips and spoke about some of his symptoms.
I was totaly drained after these 2 ½ hours! But the ball is now rolling!!!! I really can't understand why I didn't get to see that lady before. Today wasn't planned.... I'm glad it happened!

Sounds like you have a good support system growing there! You are very fortunate in that most adults don't realize they have Asperger's and therefore remain frustrated with themselves ...etc Looooooooong session today! TC!
