If your work benefits offered therapy through an organization not of your choosing, at a highly reduced rate, would you consider changing therapists, even if it meant changing to a different type of therapy and the risk that your employer could know about your mental health struggles?

This is an option for me, but the risks seem to outweigh the benefits. I'm going to continue with privately paid therapy.

What has your experience been?

It would depend how attached I was to my T and how long I needed to go.

Personally I have chosen private therapy so I am 100% in control. Though as a self-employed person in the UK my choices have been different anyway. In your shoes I would still make the same decision.
Thanks for this!

Not in a million years. I would never want my workplace to know about this at all.

In fact I am changing therapists due to this very same thing.

In my country all psychotherapy (and it's not time/session limited ) could be obtain for free via your insurance. However, and this is a big however, then all your current/future employees could see you went to a T, for how long and why (general diagnosis- like PTSD, depression...).
Needless to say I, and many others, have chosen to pay for therapy out of pocket. Actually several Ts work that way- it's different here, cause then you actually receive therapy absolutely anonymously- your T can't even put you in a hospital when SUI if you don't tell him your address/name/ect.
Plus I would never ever willingly change just because the T is cheaper (I'm not rich but can manage)- took me really long to establish some kind of RS with this T, don't want to waste my time.
Thanks for this!

nope.

I dont want any insurance co looking over my shoulder, telling me I should be done by now, telling my T what she should be 'producing'... much less an employer knowing anything about such a private matter.
Most of all i wouldn't switch Ts regardless - she is that good -
although i am not entirely sure she would agree to stay with me, if given half a chance otherwise.
