Hey y'all : ) I had this posted in another thread but I only know people in this one...so I thought I would try it here

Okay so I started a new job in my field-and it's great! I'm so thankful! My insurance starts June 1st and it seems to be really good! So it covers mental health-which is awesome-it's unlimited sessions and no deductible. However-the T I've been with for 2 years and absolutely love does not bill for insurance-he said when we first started he could write recipes or sign papers as requested though. Does anyone else get reimbursed for therapy? Is it a pain? Are there cons to getting reimbursed? it says on my one form-that if its an LcSw (which T is) I need a Doctor to sign for validation-so could I just get my psychiatrist to sign off that I need therapy?
Thanks y'all!!

Haha, recipes!

I used to get reimbursed for therapy. It was a little bit of a hassle, but not too bad, just had to send in receipts. The insurance company probably took a couple of weeks to cut me a check.

Congrats on the new job!

It usually means that the lcsw has to be working in an office supervised by a doctor ie a phd, and then it's usually billed to the group. But if the psychiatrist isn't connected to the lcsw in some way, I don't think that will be enough. Probably not what you wanted to hear, sorry.

The rare years when I had insurance I got reimbursed myself. Not a problem. I don't know about the validation, but it's possible that if your T has a T he sees for supervision, that might work, too. Ask him.

Hey Ya'll I just wanted to update ya with some good news! I don't have to have anyone else sign the insurance claim form-as my T said he is "legit" lol (too legit to quit). We also discussed what he would put down for my DX and how he knew what to put and I agreed. I just have to get an itemized bill from him-which he said he can give me-and mail it in : )
With my reimbursement (if it works out)-I will only be paying $60/month to see T-and T will end up getting more money as well...I'm liking this!! Good thoughts it all goes through smoothly!!
