This is an opposite thread to the what has your T given to you thread.

I have given my T a very small cake from a bakery in a different state (exactly a year ago), two homemade Christmas cookies decorated by me for the holidays, a handwritten thank you card for all she has done, a card I designed with verses to hand to other female clients struggling with depression, a stack of handouts for other clients, and I wrote a praise letter about her care and capabilities and mailed it to the executive director of her counseling group (her boss). She doesn't know about the last thing. Technically, I didn't give it to her, but I listed it because I did it as a gift to her.

She has helped me so much...been a life-changing catalyst in my life. I wish there was something more that I could do for her or give to her that would show how appreciative I am but still be appropriate for this professional relationship, but I can't think of anything else.
Thanks for this!

I gave my T a gorgeous Jim Shore figurine of a circus elephant balancing on a ball. It just made me think of him when I saw it as he helps me find balance in my life. The cool part was that he totally got the symbolism without any prompting from me.
Thanks for this!

Content30,

I enjoy hearing about what you gave your T, she sounds like a very good T, no wonder you like her so much. Your gifts are lovely and thoughtful.

Will you tell your T about that praise letter? How sweet!
Thanks for this!

When my T left:

- I made her a huge card with hearts, handwritten note, portrait drawing of her

When my T finally came back:

-Illustrated fan magazine for my T's fan club

-letter saying how much I missed her

Now:

-Monthly cheques with little drawings of hearts, puppies, bears, rainbows...

-Invisible warm fuzzies every day

The first year, on my T's birthday, I gave her a collage that I made, and she put it up on her wall. I've written her poems also. I've given her cookies and muffins that I've baked. I gave her a stuffed bear and bought a similar one for me. Hers sits in her office.

Recently, I gave her another stuffed animal because she doesn't have one of her pets with her now.

Many online photos of my family and some scenic "forwards".

I taught her some things she didn't know about our religion.

Many introspective emails.

Hopefully, not too much aggravation!

A couple of crocheted scarves, a couple of books, some rocks from a beach in San Diego, some origami, a decorative box. Some of these things were on display in her office. I wonder if they're still there.

I pay her. I have not had the urge to give her anything other than the agreed upon fee.
I have never given the dentist anything other than her fee either.
Thanks for this!

If none of these types of threads apply to you why do you always reply with such comments?

As for my therapist, I've made her several things that she treasures. Today, she was wearing some earrings I made her for her birthday a couple of years ago. I've made her scarves, bracelets, stationary, a custom platter and many other things. I just love being creative and making things for others.
Thanks for this!

I think a therapist is like all other professionals. I like the dentist better, but the therapist is in the same category.
But I was really just playing when I wrote in the response about dentist earlier.

The other person I know who saw the same one used to give the therapist sculptures she made. The therapist has told me about things other clients have given her.

Lots of things...the inside kids like to give her presents, like drawings and collages, they make little crafts for her, theyve given her some small stuffed animals, made her cards. We also send her surprise boxes with things from home that she cant find in the country she is in- like candy, treats, cookies, all sorts of things.oh and we give her wild colors of nail polish, other things that are treats for pampering herself.
Thanks for this!

My T was out a lot a few weeks ago for an emergency and I was worried so I made her a card with lots of cats on it.

Mandazzle, Cats? How lovely! Your T must have appreciated your card. I hope your T is better now. How did you make the card?

Awww...thank you so much! She is a phenomenal T. I may tell her when I stop going to therapy on a regular basis and start just calling every few months for a preventative session, which will probably be soon. I'll probably say it in the context of what I said above...that she has helped me so very much and I wish there was more I could do to show her how much I appreciate her and that I told the executive director what wonderful care and treatment I received from her.

I start graduate school in the fall to become a T. I really want to be as good as her, but it is a lot to live up to. She has been a great example of an excellent T!
