Last session I looked up from saying something i had been trying to say for months, and my T was looking at me in the same way my dog does, that all-encompassing I-think-you-are-the-most-wondeful-thing-in-the-world-after-my-chew-toy look. I almost leant forward and ruffled his hair and scratched behind his ears, before I realised as a human he may not take kindly and I'd freak out once i realised I'd touched another human being. Call me mad! Just wondering if anyone has experienced something similar.

Hi Bipolarartist,

Thank you for sharing what you experienced! I can see how it was like for you at that moment. Did you tell your T how you felt? I hope you felt good that your T looked at you that way! It's nice that you finally got to say what you've been trying to say for so long.

I felt something similar but opposite: last session I was telling my T about my ambitious goals, and she said in an encouraging voice, "Go get it!" For a moment I felt like a dog who was about to fetch the stick....to "go get it" for my master. It made me smile.

Thanks melody. I had experience like yours too. I know they are trying to sound encouraging, but it does sound a little demeaning sometimes. Unfortunately I have also reprimanded like my dog too, when he didn't understand i wanted him to take the top that holds the marker to the tube off so i could put water in it as his marker was becoming dry.

This is such a cute post. I kinda see what you mean, especially when my T tilts her head to the side and gives me an endearing look.

Awe, that's so sweet what a great description. I know that look when you say walkies too when t gets excited when she sees a breakthrough coming.

Aww. I know what you mean about that look. I can't look back though, it freaks me out.
