I finally had my first therapy appointment today. I freaked out over it (way too much), not knowing what to expect, did all kind of research, decided what to wear, thought about what I was willing to tell her, etc. It became almost as unhealthy as my reason for going. In the end, I decided to just go in and what would happen would just happen.

And it was lovely.

Although I was very nervous going in, she was very upbeat and worked very hard to make me comfortable. And as we talked more, it was identified that there are actually (contrary to my belief) quite a few things that need to be addressed. She talked a lot, but she listened very intently, and didn't make me feel bad for not being able to express things the way I'd have liked to. I found it easy to tell her when I was not willing to elaborate on a subject, and she took it in stride agreeing not to push me further than I desired. She's scheduled me weekly (although I was intending to do every other week lol since i'm paying out of pocket) at least for the next month and suggested at a later point taking a personality inventory to paint a more clear picture.

Either way, I'm not in love with her yet, but if things continue I can definitely see her earning my trust.

Tonight I feel thankful.

tealtumblebee, well done on taking the bull by the horns and just going for it. I admire your assertiveness with your t too and not letting her probe you on certain things just yet.
Good luck with your therapy
