My therapist specializes in treating childhood sexual abuse for both children and adults. She also has 18 years of experience with DID. So these qualifications may up the price, I don't know. It is $120/hour.

Twisted Soul, think it depends on what degrees the therapist has and what the going rate is for your area rather than type of therapy so much. Too, there are sliding fees individual therapists might give based on your income. I think anywhere from about $65-$125 an hour "could" be reasonable. I would maybe take a workshop or group, they're usually less expensive.

I pay $100 an hour for a clinical psychologist, when we started together in 1996, I paid $90.

The going rate around here is anywhere between $100-200. But some places that charge this much also have programs so that they can offer sliding scale fee (which is basing how much you pay on how much income you have.) when I was in parenting classes with a therapy agency the rate was $100.00 per class but I was elegible for their sliding fee and actual cost to me was $5.00. This is also their standard for therapy at that agency.

Since I am on the state medical insurance I don't have to worry about the cost. My therapist knows I have a set number of sessions and she spaces out my sessions as I need them and if I need more towards the end of the fiscal year she sends an application for more sessions to my insurance. They have always extended that I know of.

Therapy here costs around $100-200 an hour, but if you are low income or don't have a job most therapist around here are willing to charge only $1 for their services each hour. So it depends on the income here.

Clinical psychologist here is $120 - $150 hour. You can find counselors here for $1 a minute though... Have you tried online prices?

For a Psychologist $145.00 for a Psychiatrist $300.00 an hour. With insurence about 50 to 80 dollars. I know it costs big $$$$$$$! But can be worth it!

Thanks for all your answers.
My T just informed me last night she is no longer taking my insurance which I was paying $20 a session with my copay.
She is signing on w/ a huge firm now and will be charging $125 an hour.
I just wanted to know if this was what the going rate was.
I am out of my frigging mind with this news!

My psychologist accepts BCBS, but I have a separate $1,000.00 / year deductible for mental health care. Since I've just begun therapy the calendar year will roll right about the time I meet my deductible, then it starts over again for 2007.

Mine's $500. I almost spent that in four months of talking to T and now psychiatrist visit! I'm glad that my insurance will start helping now. I didn't realize how good my old insurance was (except for the fighting over two January sessions). Now, I just have to pay 20% and they cover 80% of "reasonable costs." My agency doesn't seem to ever get the sticker price except from self-pay clients with money.
