So, I'm going to my very first therapy session tomorrow and I honestly have no idea what I will say or should say.
How much should I disclose? I'm technically a minor (only for another month) so she could legally tell my parents what I'm going through and I'm definitely not okay with that aspect.

Basically, I don't know if I was abused or not as a kid by a distant family member.

I have vague recollections of some sexual things, but nothing definitive or damning.

My main concern with talking about it is the legal side.
Even if something came out with me as an adult, she would be required to say something to some agency.

Basically, my question is: tomorrow (or in a month), if I talk about the possible abuse (if it turns out to be real and not imagined), will she (My T) still have to talk to the police/other officials?

Is there a statute of limitations on child sexual abuse?
That's my big question. Because I don't want to report (if the abuse isn't imagined) or have to do anything official that would just unnecessarily stir up dust that has been settled for 13 years.

Thanks.

If no abuse is going on currently, your T won't report, particularly since you aren't sure what/if it happened.

In an initial appointment, most discussion will stay fairly surface and introductory. Therapy is in an ongoing process; it won't all happen tomorrow--not by a long shot. Just let things unfold slowly. The T will probably take a bit of the lead in the first session. If you have questions about contact between sessions, therapy techniques, education, etc. This is a good place to start.

It will be okay.
