On Tuesday I am going to start working with a new T. Here is the problem: where do I begin? I mean I have been through sooooo much in my 39 years that I wouldn't know where to start.

From anyone's experience do you let T talk and ask questions first or do you just jump right in and start with a first memory or something else all together?

Often you start with the reason why you're looking to start therapy.
Thanks for this!

Well that's the thing... I just cut ties with a T i had been with for 5.5 years because for the last 4 months or so I haven't felt that connection anymore and we weren't working on anything at all. We would just talk about boring mundane stuff. Day to day stuff. I wasn't being challenged or asked deep questions that make me think. it was.....boring.

Usually for me, I interview him or her, and then let them ask questions as well.

Honestly I think that you are the only person who knows the answer to that. But good luck with you new Therapist, I know that is does take a little time getting used to. My current Therapist I have only been seeing for 3 months and I am just now starting to feel comfortable going to the sessions.
Thanks for this!

Maybe you could start off by explaining this first and ask how you could work together to make sure the same thing doesn't happen with your new T. I asked a lot of questions about dependence and approach when I changed therapists.

I think you should just go in and see what comes out. It may surprise you.

A good T will guide you and get the session going.
You will probably need to explain why you want to start therapy and decide with your T what you think your goals could be.
Good luck
