I have an e.d, and my t kept saying its mind over matter when t referred to me trying to eat more. This is very frustrating and I personally don't think it is the right thing, seems so much more complex than that because my brain always tells me not to eat and when I try and eat more, I end up b/p all day and a total wreck.

Anyone else's t say this or have this approach?

It certainly does not sound very useful without more being added to it. It well may be true, but not useful.

I suspect your T isn't use to dealing with ED's. I asked my T to treat it like an OCD behavior. That has helped a lot.

But your mind is the problem when you have an ED. Could you see a specialist?

But MA IS mind over matter- your body's starving yet your mind won't let it eat.
I don't see how this could be helpful...

That's how I feel, I wanna eat, and eat normal, it seems impossible because the rational part says I need too, them i try and everything is chaos, I become am angry uncontrollable, irrational person. I've been thinking about the mind over matter and it doesn't make since at this point.

Well, what helped me was not thinking at all- just eat (without thinking if possible and quite quickly) what was before me- helps if you got s.o. to provide the food for you- I couldn't decide what/ prepare my food.
Some Ts would say think of food as fuel/medicine for you- IDK, not thinking about it the 5 min it took me to eat it worked best for me.
Take care

For me, (and I acknowledge I don't have an ED so this may not apply), it is mind over mind: Two aspects of my mind with different driving thoughts. Which is the stronger? Which has more practice? Which do I really believe in?

This is me - exactly. I have just started a Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course - although already not doing too good with it - but I am hoping eating "mindfully" might help?! It definitely makes me think and be "in the moment" which is good but doesn't stop me BP.
