Here is a quote from Carl rogers from his book " on becoming a person, a therapists view of psychotherapist"
The more open I am to the realities in me and in the other person, the less do I find myself wishing to rush in and to "fix things". So I become less and less inclined to hurry in to fix things, to set goals, to mild people, to manipulate and push them in the way that I would like them to go. Page 21, What do you think? |

I have that book, haven't read it in it's entirety, but it sounds to me like he says let 'nature' take it's course. Let things come about organically, without having to 'manipulate' some response or behavior.

This form of therapy is very gentle and mild compared to other theories. If this was someone from another therapy module it wouldn't be so organic I think. |

I tried to read the book, but got a bit bored. I have the attention of a 'two year old' hee hee. I'll revisit it again soon. |

It's an interesting book and what I like most about it is that he really is a genuine person and believes that only three core principles need to be present for therapy to work;
Unconditional positive regard Congruence Empathy I don't disagree with him ![]() |
