T's abandoned me!

I have an appt scheduled with T on Tuesday. My regular appt as has been scheduled the last three years. T is good about calling if anything changes. well I called t tonight. I am falling apart and didn't feel I could wait to talk to t till Tuesday. I am currently dropping out of grad school due to my agoraphobia and going to school has me so stress I am having problems function. then this weekend I flew to see my mother who is dying and encountered my father, who is my abuser, who broke down crying on me. today hasn't been a good day. I am having problems coping. so I called just to touch bases tonight and his voicemail said he was out of the office until Wednesday. this confused me since my appt is on Tuesday and he didn't call to reschedule me. this isn't like him, he's always called to reschedule. so do I not show up on Tuesday? and trust the machine and believe he didn't call me? or do I think the machine is wrong and show up for my appt? and dare I think how am I going to make it having to wait till the following week for an appt?

Did you leave a message on the machine? your T may check it even if away ... or is there an email you can write to, to clarify

Does he have office staff you can check with tomorrow or Monday? Is there an email or answering service that can get a message to him?

I don't ever know him to check his messages while away. I did leave one. I will call the front office to verify tomorrow. I cant believe this is happening. im not a needy client. I hardly ever call t, but I really need him now.

i hope they just said the wrong day. and you still have your session.

Wow. I hope something bad didn't happen to him/his family or something. I hope the front office can help you out.

I called the front desk and she had no idea that he was gone and no update of his schedule...no help

I'm really sorry to hear that you are struggling so much right now, and that you weren't able to get in touch with your T when you really needed it. I know there are a lot of things that are probably making you very anxious and afraid right now, but try not to project those onto your T.

You said that your T has always been very good about letting you know when he is out of town, or when an appointment has to be changed, so that is probably a really good sign that you still have your appointment with him. Also, if the front office doesn't know that he is away, that's another good sign. Perhaps he is only going to be in part-time in the early part of next week, so he left an out-of-office message because he won't be able to return phone calls until later. Or perhaps it is an old message that hasn't been updated. Whatever the reason, if you have been able to trust your T up till now about keeping you informed and being there for you, then I would try to continue to trust him

On Thursday, I called the nurse at the children's hospital where my daughter gets treatment. The message said the nurse was out of the office Thursday and Friday and would return my call the next Monday. Therefore, I left messages for two different people at the hospital, hoping someone else would help me. First thing Friday, the nurse called me. I asked about the message and she said that it was from the week before and she had just forgotten to change it. Maybe he just forgot to change the message.
