So my T and I have mentioned, briefly, my traumas. We have talked and I have related detailed stories of the physical abuse I suffered as a child, however I only briefly mentioned the sexual abuse I suffered as a child. Are you supposed to talk in detail about it? Like describe it? I mean when you are comfortable enough to or want to, is it okay?

I would think, especially, if you want to talk about it you should.

It is certainly okay! You are supposed to talk about whatever you feel the need to talk about however you can best talk about it.

You can talk about whatever you want to about your life. Isn't that the point?

You can talk about it or around it, it's all up to you. Sometimes going into a lot of detail makes you re-live it and become re-traumatised so it's important that the therapist can pace you. Basically it's what you need and are comfortable with, cos you can heal from the abuse without having to talk in great detail or specific events.

You can always revisit the topic anytime with more detail. I told my main T about childhood trauma in stages,
1. taking vaguely about related subjects to gauge his reactions
2. talking around it, hinting that something happened to me
3. saying I want to talk about something but I don't know how
4. finally spitting it out but without detail
5. talking vaguely around it again
6. finally getting to details but only in small doses

That is almost exactly what I did too.
