Oh but at least I've started reading a very good book! I love books and I really like it when I find books that are almost impossible to stop reading.
Thanks for this!

Goodnight, HT! It's my bedtime too, very soon.

What are you reading, neutrino? I'm a big fan of reading, myself.

You probably wouldn't feel so bad if you could have seen the giant walls of text I posted last year when I was going through a termination . Seriously, though... we all go through periods, sometimes really long periods, of needing to reach out about negative stuff. Especially those of us who bottle it all up IRL.

I will say that since it's an online forum, you won't always get responses that are helpful (although the majority of the time, the person posting did intend to be helpful), and some might hit a nerve -- but that has nothing to do with you, or being too much or too negative. We're here to help. Please do reach out.

I started reading a biography about Bobby Fischer (very famous chess player) today. It's called Endgame: the Spectacular Rise and Fall of Bobby Fischer (or Endgame: Bobby Fischer's Remarkable Rise and Fall - from America's Brightest Prodigy to the Edge of Madness). Have only read about 40 or 50 pages so far but it's great.

What kind of books do you like?
Thanks for this!

SallyBrown, I know a lot of people here are really supportive. I'm just not used to being so dependant on other people. It's scary (though probably good for me). Do you know what I mean?

Hey, I haven't posted a library in a while.

Couch 67 - Keep calm, carry on, and have a cup of tea.

Oh yes. It's very hard to depend on other people. I know I spent a lot of my life thinking that depending on other people was the biggest mistake I could make. For me it was both a sign of weakness (which was something I was basically taught) and an enormous risk (which was something I basically learned from experience). It's hard to un-learn all that.

I agree, though, that it is ultimately a good thing. Depending on your life circumstances, it can be more or less difficult to lean on others, but it's a very good thing (and a very healing thing) to be able to do when you can .

That does sound like an interesting book. He was a fascinating character. Not that I know very much about him.

I read a lot of fiction - science fiction and fantasy, and some crime fiction, and some general fiction as well. I do like biographies, but don't read as many as I would like.

What kind of science fiction and fantasy? I mostly read non-fiction but I read some fiction as well, though mostly classics such as Sherlock Holmes, The Great Gatsby etc.

One of my favourite books of all time is Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close by Jonathan Safran Foer. Have you heard of it?

Well, I am home from work and caught up on the couch.

MUE, sorry you are dealing with insurance issues. Hopefully everything will come through/turn out in a positive way for you.

CC, it'll all be okay. Hang in there.

MKAC, that seems unreasonable to expect the kids to use power tools. The only things I had to build for high school physics were made out of toothpicks or popsicle sticks and glue. Oh yeah and we had to make water baloon launchers, but the teacher supplied the wood frames that the launcher attached to (everyone used the same few). Students did build the frames, but he offered extra credit to anyone that built one and reimbursed the cost of the wood to make it, so it was not mandatory for everyone. Only the launcher was (I made mine out of bungee cords and a tupperware. It shot pretty far, but accuracy was not very good. I didn't get the extra credit for hitting the teacher with a balloon.) I can't believe that a teacher would expect a kid to build something that complicated. Okay enough on that before I ramble too much.

RTS, glad you are out of jury duty now.

Mast, sleep well and good luck at T tomorrow.

Healed, hang in there. I hope things get easier/better for you soon.

Wiki, SD, critter, Healing, all the newbies and others I am forgetting: HI! I hope the day treated you well.

Well, I am off to fill my belly since I am hungry. I'll hop back on after I eat supper.

Nice couch Mast.

Feeling horrible tonight. I wish I could cope with life like a grown-up rather than a two-year old. I just want to stay in bed for a few weeks...

I've been griping about Madame T to Mr T. He's wondering why I put up with her for so long.

CE thanks. I am stressing about the ex and the girls finding a place to live but I know that for all the faults as a husband he makes that up by being a good father and will work his butt off to find a place in 3 weeks hopefully. I've pulled back and I will wait for him to call for my help. But its hard not to do my "super-hero" thing and swoop in and take over.
Thanks for this!
