A year and a half ago while I was working with t1 for 1 year I started working on trauma 2 months before she suddenly left, only giving me two weeks notice, she stopped csa work abruptly as well. She relocated to another job.

She had also referred me to a group 3 weeks before I knew she was leaving because of my lack of insurance, im waiting for ssd , before then she told me she would advocate for me and not let the supervisors stop individual sessions, because they make exceptions for people depending on cases.

That didnt happen, since she was leaving, they denied it.

She referred me to t2 I been with for a year and we are in csa work , tt2 knows about the situation and decided to take me ob, supervisor okayed it last year. Now the billing dept which every year takes down h financial info , he is on disability, told me its time again to fill out yearly paper work. Im on sliding scale, this is mental health community clinic, paid by state, they dont do sliding anymore.

So now on monday I have to fill out this paperwork, the billing clerk is very rude she gives me anxiety, she is not expectin money, last year she told me," people just think they could get everything for free in this country" therapy is not free the state is paying for you, the state is gonna go broke"

Im having bad memories that after monday this billing clerk will alert the supervisor, and my t wont see me anymore like t1. I dont know how to make it through this weekend.

Keep in mind that you are creating this scenario and it is not happening. You are going to be okay

Well I don't think it helps to name/judge it with "catastrophizing" and you aren't. You are overlaying a previous reality onto the future that hasn't happened yet; it is pure fantasy and speculation and guessing and that's scaring you, where I think that the reality is that you will be able to handle this clerk and her attitude, which is about her (her inability to understand, relate, be compassionate) and not about you. You don't even need to acknowledge her attitude; you are an innocent bystander of her grumpiness.

This would be something that could be beneficial to you to talk about with your therapist.

Sweepy, if the clerk says something upsetting, smile and immediately say something like, "Thank you so much for your support!" Reject her opinion and reinforce your own (and Echoes and mine; 3 against 1 :-)

That clerk is way out of line!

I'd report her snide comments to my therapist and let the therapist know how much it upsets you to be addressed in this manner and that you don't appreciate it one bit!

I'm willing to bet the clerk will treat you different the next time they see you!

Thanks for this!

Excellent advice! I tend to do this myself, create issues, that aren't even there. I worry myself something silly.

And one day this rude clerk may need government assistance or a family member may need government assistance, will she make them feel less than because of their need?
Thanks for this!
