IMO socializing when you happen to cross paths is one thing, but I think that what your Therapist is doing (such as meeting with you in public places at pre-planed times) is completely unethical and crosses many boundaries.

Sweetsurrender, can I ask how old you are? Personally I've never heard of a salaried T who accepts insurance co-pays outside of a residential program. Do you see her within a residential setting?

So it's an outpatient arrangement? Although it sounds more extreme than many traditional forms of therapy, I'm not sure anyone can say if it's unethical. Is the center where she practices accredited by any outside organization? That info is usually included in info pamplets or on the web-site. Perhaps bring up your concerns with her and see if she explains more fully why she's made these changes recently?

Yeah, that explains it then.
Reparenting, as controversial as it is, could be helpful for some clients. Though I'd never risk it I do hope you'll be one of those few benefiting from it. |

There is a type of therapy called Schema Therapy which is where the limited re-parenting thing comes from. I found a great article explaining it; http://bit.ly/1b23oN8
If this is what your therapist is doing sweetsurrender then the outcomes are supposed to be really good. It sounds like you have a really healing relationship with her. __________________ INFP Introvert(67%) iNtuitive(50%) iNtuitive Feeling(75%) Perceiving(44)% |
