This may belong in the ED section, but i feel more at home in the Psychotherapy section, so i hope that nobody minds me posting it here?

So, for the first time in almost 6 years, tonight i am going out to eat with friends at a restaurant Not even a year ago, this would have been impossible because of my limited diet, anxiety about eating in front of other people, and general Eating Disorder-ness.

Ii have worked so so hard in therapy to get to this point, and tonight i am really proud of myself. I feel like a real and long-lasting recovery is very much possible.

Just wanted to share

Thanks everyone for the replies, it was lovely to log in and see them!

The meal went great. The food was really lovely and it was lovely to be out with friends, eating without huge amounts of anxiety. I am really looking forward to doing it more, now that i feel able.
I dont have any urges to purge either. I just cannot put into words how great this feels

Terrific news! This is a huge VICTORY for you! Yeah! You should feel so proud Remember this feeling. When/if you ever feel disheartened or frustrated in your future work, remember this. This is why you work so hard. This is the pay-off. I hope you enjoy yourself and have a fabulous time with your friends You deserve it!
