My Therapy intake at the new practice is scheduled for tomorrow morning, and needless to say I am a little nervous. I want to discuss the issue of touch for sure but I am unsure how much I should discuss other things (such as my boundary issues) tomorrow. There are also plenty of other things that I want to talk about as well so I can see them taking up a considerable amount of time.

In my experience it can be difficult to overplan a session. l wonder if you can write a list and see what feels like a priority? Good luck. Soup

That might be a good idea, and like I said earlier I did get a journal for Christmas.

I hope it goes well! And I hope you like your new T.

My first T session HE was the one with the list of questions he wanted to ask. I was kind of relieved, actually, because all I had to do was answer, or avoid the question if I wanted to. I just said, I don't want to talk about that yet a few times. I also learned a lot about him just from our conversation. I just wanted to mention this because T might take the lead and ask YOU questions, but I agree with others about a list, just in case T leaves it up to you.

Either way it goes, good luck!

Well I just had the intake session and I have to say that I thought it went pretty well there were A LOT of questions that she asked me which had me struggling to keep my attention but I think I made it through it, I mentioned the boundary issues that I have and she said that while she disagreed with me on some of them she did aknowledge that I was entitled to my own opinion on them. I also was able to bring up touch (there was actually something just before that made a good transition to it) and she told me that every Therapist is different but her policy was that if both people want touch than she is OK with it), I told her that I probably will only want a hug after a final session (should I have one) but do reserve the right to ask for them other times (such as a very difficult session). They didn't schedule another session right now but they told me that they would call me in the next week or two to set something up (it probably won't be with the person who I had my intake with since she is outside of my prefered age range).
Thanks for this!

I can also say that this office looks more like a professional office than the last place I was at.

Thanks for the update! Glad it went alright! And it sounds like you asked all the right questions and covered some great topics.
May I ask what exactly a "therapy intake" is? I have never heard of that, so I was unsure what it meant. Is it just another method of finding a therapist?

Basically that's what it is, they ask you a bunch of questions and try to set you up with the right Therapist from that.
Thanks for this!

Sounds good. Glad you felt okay with it. Hope you get a good match. The beginning is always full of feelings because you don't know what to expect or have expectations from the past. It'll be good once you settle into therapy and get used to the person, start having a rhythm to it, feeling more comfortable with each other.

That's the approach that I always take when starting with a new Therapist.

BTW I didn't think they'd call me back this early on but they did and I have my first session scheduled with my new Therapist next Wednesday.
Thanks for this!
