I don't know if you've been keeping up with my sleep issues this week or not, but I haven't slept more than 3 hours each day since last Wednesday. I'm not particularly tired (which is the problem), but I am well aware that if I don't start sleeping immediately, I am in real danger of going manic (actually more severely manic; I'm already on the low end of mania).

My pdoc prescribed a med last Friday that I've taken before with good results, but this time it has not worked in the least. So, I called him today and let him know we have to try something else. I asked for the med he usually gives me when I'm in the hospital that has always worked well. It's a bit more potent than what he first prescribed. But he said it probably wasn't strong enough to counteract the level of mania I am already at.

What he ended up prescribing is the anti-psychotic he put me on in the hospital last April which is very potent. I hate this med because it honestly is the foulest tasting med I've ever encountered, and I have to keep in under my tongue and cannot eat or drink for 10 minutes. Yuck. However, I know it knocks me on my butt within about 20 minutes which is what I need right now, and it evens out the mania issue very quickly. So this is what I need even if it tastes like crud.

So, wish me luck. I just took the med and if it works like it usually has in the past, I should be sound asleep by midnight. I'll let you know how it goes.

Thinking of you Chris, and I do hope it works! I've been there before with not being able to sleep (for different reasons I'm sure) and it was hell trying to get something to knock me out. You never realize how GREAT sleep is until we go without

Keeping it under your tongue is like cruel and unusual punishment! You poor thing! It reminds me of when i was kid-sitting my gf's teenage son and we found some Bertie Botts jelly beans and then raced each other as to who could keep the yucky flavor in their mouth the longest before spitting it out. All the time youre trying not to think, "i have an earwax jelly bean in my mouth." That was definitely one of the greatest days of my life. I should write about it. It wasnt just that one incident. But you probably have a million with your boys

Thanks for all the sleep vibes. It worked just as I hoped it would, so I managed about 6 hours last night. Very groggy this morning because it was so late when I took it, but that will wear off and won't be a problem if I work at taking it earlier. So . . . yahoo!
