The receptionist called me this morning, they are very nice to me I have known them for 2 yrs, and she tells me that t cancelled closure session, she will be out of the office today, so she set up another session with me tomorrow at 11 am, I asked the receptionist if she thinks she will be in tomorrow, and she says HOPEFULLY oh know!!!!!!!! here I go catastrophising , what does that mean, is she sick, is she ok, is a family member ok, idk what to think, she has never cancelled before.

This was our closure session, as I suppose with other clients as well. The receptionist also booked another appt for monday, in case she is not in tomorrow as well. What am i to think now.

If she does come tomorrow, I am going to ask if everything is fine, but I know she will say i am ok. I am going to feel like everything is not, and that might hinder my closure agenda in telling her what I need to tell her omg, help me out please.

There are all sorts of regular non - emergency reasons the therapist would cancel. Remind yourself that most of the time, things are not a catastrophe is my suggestion.

She's moving, right? Maybe she has to meet with real estate or movers or somebody.
Thanks for this!

Closing on a house? Stomach bug? Dog died? Sick kid? Time contingent paperwork? Who knows? Probably not a big deal for her. These things happen and cancellations result from time to time. She's had several alternate appointments set up, so don't worry about it. She's taking care of you. You don't need to take care of her.
Thanks for this!

I am a little confused. This was the session where you were to spend most of the session with new T with short time with both Ts at end. Right? So are both Ts now scheduled for your new time? I really doubt that reception would be that on top of both Ts schedules.

It's easy to always think about the 'bad things' that might be the reason why she cancelled, isn't it?

Try thinking about the none bad things that could of happened, to make her cancel. Rather then the bad. You will find out tomorrow if she shows. If not, then perhaps it's something to do with her moving. Maybe she has a load of stuff to sort out. After all, moving is busy and hard work. So much stuff to do when you move.

Honestly, I see it as a POSITIVE thing. Perhaps she could be there, but something (illness, family issues, etc.) but wanted to be able to give you her fullest attention. After all, this will likely be the most important session you've ever had together. I would not read too deeply into it. It may just be she cares so much that she'd rather postpone a day or 2 in order to make sure you get the fullest attention you deserve.

Hey sweepy, A. cancelled mine for tomorrow (called in sick so they say). Seems we've both had this done to us. Like yours, mine was important :/ I wanted to get into the routine of seeing A. once every 2/3 weeks and would of been our first proper session. So now I'm throwing an immature temper tantrum (as you do) by refusing to see him for a further 2 weeks. Not seeing him for 2 weeks, won't make much of a difference me to be honest (I've survived 8 years without any help), it's the only way I can 'show him' I'm annoyed.
