It happens once in a great while. I often think that it isn't so much that she has run out of things to say but wants me to take the lead or if we are talking about something emotional she lets me take a deep breath. I HATE those quiet spells so I always come up with something even if its just small talk

It happened to me for a few sessions. It was mainly about the fact we couldn't really think of anything that needed to be *worked* on at that time. Everything seemed to be going well. But, life is life and things happen.
I dealt with the issue by just spacing out my appointments (after the fact), but in that moment, my therapist will generally ask about something we had talked about months ago - seeing how things were going on that particular topic. I am writing an autobiography, and she brought it up in one session after it had not be talked about for a couple of months. |
