I went to the movies and was dissapointed to see that my theater didn't have any of the movies I wanted to see---ended up seeing Frozen. Cute. But I'm not a fan of princess movies no matter how progressive. Oh well-it was a ticket voucher I won online anyways
Thanks for this!

Beats me why that was locked, especially when it was locked.
There were some grumpy posts in the middle, but we'd got past that. I especially valued Chopin's contribution.

The last few Disney films (starting with "The Princess and the Frog") have been very good, I think we are entering into a second Disney Renaissance period (and I grew up during the first Disney Renaissance period so I know those films very well)

I'm still a Lion King fan, despite the not-very-well-thought-out implications in terms of race or gender (5 guy characters to 1 female? Put me in that world!)

It was beautifully made, good songs, nice message--I just want to be surprised. I want my Disney Dread Pirate Roberta, or something like it!!

Still trying to find a theater w/ Secret Life of Walter Mittey and ant to see "Her" also.
Thanks for this!

I want to see "Her" as well, there is actually an independent film Theater that is almost literally right next to where I go for Therapy so I could always try to see it there (or if not that than some other film some time, I have actually been there a few times before with a friend who lives in that area), however I am almost certain that I won't be able to make it to session tomorrow due to the weather.

BTW growlycat are you Male or Female- since I did see you post in the Men-Focused Support group.

I find most disney movies to be too sad and scary.

Pre 80's disney seemed too optimistic in a crazy Stepford Wives sort of way. Beauty and the Beast/Lion King was a turning point

That is an interesting reason for not liking Disney movies. Personally, I don't like them because I find them racist/sexist/homophobic, but that's just me.

Actually "The Little Mermaid" was the turning point (and the start of the first Disney Renaissance), what preceded it was about 20 years of "Dark Ages" which followed the death of Walt Disney (the last animated film he worked on was "The Jungle Book), however I did think that there were a few good films in there most notably the one film that most of the mainstream people hated- "The Black Cauldron" I loved that film and am very much part of its Cult following.

The first Disney Renaissance period was from "The Little Mermaid" to "Tarzan".

Most Disney Animated Films are not that scary- except for "The Black Cauldron" of course and even that is not too scary- although supposedly they needed to make a number of cuts to it in order for Disney to release it.

I like Fantasia. The second Fantasia was super boring. But I liked the original.

I find them quite scary. You cannot decide for me what I find scary and what I do not.

I am female, and straight but not very girly never have been. I'm pretty sure I confuse people!

Yeah, I broke the rules once or twice and posted in the men's support section. So many guys think that they will never have a girlfriend, just reminding them that they are focusing on the wrong traits in themselves. If you are attentive and affectionate, few ladies are going to care about size etc etc.

Interestingly, I had a psych test in my youth and I was labeled a "male-identified female" whatever that means

The Old Forest in The Fellowship of the Ring was allegedly inspired by the nightmare forest scene in Snow White.

I like Fantasia a lot. Haven't seen the second one.

I should try to catch Frost while the subtitled (undubbed) version is still on. If they haven't stopped showing it already. Hmm. Maybe I should try to catch it when I'm in England this coming weekend...
