Sometimes patients fall behind in their payments and sometimes Ts extend credit. I am curious about how far you can fall behind before T pulls the plug.

What is the greatest number of payments you have owed?

(If your T bills monthly, only count the sessions after the bill arrived and before you paid it.)

I truly don't know how far behind any of my Ts would have let me fall. I have a $20 copay and 99% of the time paid before I saw them. Every once in awhile the appointment would fall the day before payday and I just didn't have the money. We always agreed I'd come back the next day when I got paid and catch up.

Not exactly behind as it was the arrangement we made to pay at the first of the month.

I pay ahead of each session. Especially since the idiotic argument about money last summer!

I general pay each session however I have been out of work for a while. So she generously reduced her rate and we reduced to by weekly. When I am working I should be able have insurance either via ACA or work and I can make double payments until caught up. I offered to stop for a while but she has been fine with it. Really nice because I have really needed her.

I get the bill every 3 months which I have to pay within 30 days - it's not the nicest thing to get so high bill but I can afford it - if not, at least in theory, I could change T. Here, there are either Ts who are covered by the obligatory insurance (covered means that I still would have to pay first and then I would get the reimbursement) or Ts who are not covered by any insurance company... Covered Ts are those who are also pdocs or those who work under pdoc supervision... My previous T was covered, my current T is not covered - life... Finding covered T who does trauma works is impossible, finding not covered T who does trauma work, speak English and can take new clients is almost impossible, so I still feel lucky

I always pay on time. When I can't, we arrange something. I could never pretend a bill didn't exist, it just isn't my nature.

I have always paid ahead. If I didn't have the money, or was short, I would cancel in advance. I could never owe anyone anything, not in my nature. I don't even have credit card debt.

I pay every session same-day. However, I have spent more than I could pay out of pocket, so have used credit. Am working to eliminate that habit, not easy.

I put down that I owed for one session, but in reality, it was arranged that way. I was paying by check rather than credit card at the time, and we had a phone session. So, I paid T at the very next in person session. Now that I pay by credit card, T has my card on file and just charges me, so it's never an issue.

Oh - and once, right after my wallet was stolen, I walked out and forgot to pay T because I was so used to her charging my credit card. She called me, as the card number she had didn't work, and I apologized and gave her the new card number.

I always pay at the start of each session.
However, once I forgot to bring my purse. I told her right at the start of the session, so said I could forfeit this one and rearrange, but she said "don't worry about it pay me next time".
So I did that.

Also, she had offered a months 'credit' when I started a new job and had to wait a month to get paid. I never took up her offer, as it didn't feel right.

It was a lot of sessions but that's because my insurance was taking forever to pay them.

Three months is a lot to pay for at once!

I selected one, but it wasn't my fault. The credit/debit machine wasn't working so I just paid double the following the week. I would never go and not pay. If I can't afford to pay for a session, I give notice and don't go.

I always pay my co pay at each session. Once I forgot my wallet and my t said dont worry about it. Otherwise, if I didn't have the money I'd cancel the session.
