I know some people on here have done art/ drawing when in session with T but I wonder if anyone has played with toys, like building blocks or other things?
How did this come about and how did it make you feel?

I think it could be a good idea, if you want to do it? I believe therapy needs to include an element of playfulness, whatever form that might take?

Did you take your play station to their office?

I think I would like to do it, be different then sitting looking at each other. But T has no toys etc in their office and it seems weird for me to bring up. "Can we play with toys today?" Haha I don't know?

I have seen Therapists in the past who have done those types of things with other clients but not with me.

I'd love to have a picnic with T but no idea how to tell her/ask for that. Or why.

I have not found that playing with a therapist is a safe or useful thing to do.
I have never tried with toys. I do know some people find stuff like blocks or games helps them and if I thought it would, I would just tell the therapist what I wanted.

I also don't know why this has come up for me. I wouldn't know how to bring it up with T, and then to bring it in the next time.

With t2 we use to do puzzles while talking difficult stuff, also, play dough, but she would put my play dough away , so other clients wouldn't use it. With t3, I just draw at home, before I leave session we listen to a song together as a grounding skill.

My first t would read me children's books or have me color when I couldn't talk. I was much younger then, in many ways.

My T uses toys for symbolic / projective work. It doesn't take away from the seriousness, but the toys can be cute. I also work with toys. They can be fun. They're definitely powerful tools though.
