Hey all, i was wondering if you or anyone you might know has a good doctor or could recommend a good psychologist for severe depression in New York City and or North New Jersey???? I reallly need a good one and i just saw one and it was horrible, he didnt talk to me and/ or cared about my issues, i thought doctors wanted to help you not send you off somewhere else. So if you really know anyone that could help me, please let me know, thanks!!

Hello if you go to the DBSAlliance website they have names of Psychlogists and Counselors possibly in your area. Take care sincerely Soidhonia

Did the doctor attempt to give you a referral to see someone else?
Sorry I don't live in the area. I'm not sure how useful boards are with respect to getting referrals. On the upside there are a whole bunch of therapists in your region and I'm sure there are a bunch of really good ones too. It isn't unusual for people to see 4 or 5 before they find someone they 'click' with. Whether a therapist is a 'good' therapist or not can depend quite significantly on whehter you 'click' with them or not. What that means is that while other people can reccomend there is still no guarantee that you will find them good for you. And therapists that other people write off... Might be good for you. Good luck with your search. (Think of it a bit like trying to find a nanny or something. You need to interview some to see which kind of therapist you prefer). |
