As far as I know, no she is not. And absolutely not.

Not really. We've hugged a few times over the years, but not often. It isn't something that particularly matters to me. I get plenty of hugs elsewhere in my life.

No and no. I'm attracted to him so I know a hug would be a bad idea anyway.

My T allowed hugs. She only requested that I ask first. They were awesome and very healing for me. My T left and is now working in schools. I miss her and those healing hugs.

I asked for a hug many, many times and was firmly told "NO!!"

I really wanted a hug.

Not typically, only during final sessions and very few other times.

I don't think my T is a hugger because we have never hugged. But when I cried one time she put her hand on my back. I have never asked for a hug and I don't think I have ever really wanted one.

I'm sort of similar to you, I'm not someone who needs to hug a lot but it would be nice to know that they are there for me.

No, but he hugged me. He thinks it never can be part of therapy.I like he doesn't hug his clients, I would be jealous if he did it.

Ex t hugged every session- they were nice but sometimes she didn't after a hard session so I kinda thought she was rewarding me for behaving in session.

She is ok with it, but way to early for any such interaction if any, dont picture it right now.

Were you told no in a kind, diplomatic way at least?

Did you discuss that perception with her?

She hugged me when I came back to see her the second time around, and when I made her something. I never asked for a hug because I'm not a hugger. Lol.

No but it was quiet obvious as when I had a tough session sand needed a hug she didn't offer but when we sat down and chatted like friends she would squeeze me so tight!
It is just my perception of events

That's too bad. It shouldn't be like that. The tough sessions are when a T should be the most supportive.

Yes she is...it started early on when we started to really work on the hard stuff. I told her I was not a hugger and that I had a son who is a huge hugger so I was getting use to it...however I could never ask a person for a hug (except my kids). So for about 6 months she asked every session for a hug which I enjoyed....after that she stopped asking and just giving me a hug.

While the topic has never come up.. I am pretty sure T is not a hugger when it comes to his clients. I admit, I have never asked, though. For the first year of therapy I thought, what the heck would I want/need a hug from T for? In the last couple of months, I have thought... I guess it would make sense for a hug to come in in the therapeutic relationship. Though, I am not sure I would ever ask or ever say yes, if he offered.

He is not a hugger, that I know of, and I'm fine with that. I like how things are.

Mine acknowledges he is very much a hugger in his real life but limits physical contact in sessions depending on the needs of the client.

Mine has never offered to hug me. I'd like it if she asked me tho.
