So, I talked to my aunt a few days ago and she called my parents, concerned about my mental health because the days before I wasn't eating like I normally do nor was my sleeping too good. My mom called the doctor and I have an appointment on Monday.
I suffer from general anxiety and small bits of depression, although it's mostly anxiety. I've had bad anxiety attacks like this before, where I'm sobbing all day, scared to death of something (usually stupid), not eating like I do, having trouble sleeping, etc., but this is the first time my parents want something more to be done besides my medication and therapy. I'm on 50mg of the generic Zoloft and I've been to my newest therapist twice. My mom told me that I may have to quit college? Or she said it's up to me (she said both things so I'm not sure what to believe). She said I may have to go for inpatient or outpatient treatment. I know that I can get through my last semester of community college and graduate; the only issue is whether or not I can go off to university in the fall. The thing is, I sort of know what inpatient treatment is and I absolutely refuse to be hospitalized. I'm not that bad - no suicidal thoughts, I'm just miserable. When I go Monday, I'm telling the doctor exactly that - I'm not going to be hospitalized. I'd be a LOT worse if I were and it'd only make me worse. My question is... What's outpatient treatment? I can find nothing about it and I sort of have an idea, but at the same time I kind of don't. |

Can you try a new medication? It sounds like the current one isn't working well.

I've been on Lexapro 10-20mg before this new medication. My therapist said 50mg of Zoloft is a low dose, regardless. It was working fine until I started my period.

Outpatient typically is 1-3 hour sessions once a week up to like 3x a week I think.
Intensive outpatient is going 5-7 days a week for hours at a time.

Then maybe it's just your period and nothing else.

Yeah, hormones can do terrible things. But it's only temporary.
