For years I believed "the self" was something already defined, but undescovered by me.
I read something on that subject which said something like...."it's true we discover ourselves, but after we have created it". We create then discover. I'd spent so much time thinking it was something mysterious and not within my power to do anything about. Feeling at the mercy to ny past. Reading up on this topic was very enlightening. |

That's a very interesting point of view on a topic that I spend a lot of time with.
While I'm not sure that I fully agree with it, I was wondering if you could cite the source so that I might look into it further? Regardless, I do believe that the unexamined life is not worth living... |

I still remember when I had a connection to a home movie of my mother from about 12 years before I was born, knew exactly what she was feeling and another time when I was working on feelings from when I was 2 and connected to that person I had been. Until therapy I had 3 lives, my mother alive (of which I "knew" nothing, it was a gap), my mother dead and being alone, and then my stepmother forward but therapy got my Self all together so I was "continuous".
