This week, I will have my final session of 2014.

I'm thinking of doing a recap of the year's progress.

I'm thinking that I would like to hear the therapist's perspective on the work we've done. I wonder if her perception of my "achievements" will differ from my own.

Have you done this? Was it productive?

No. It would not be a useful thing for me

I have not done this with CurrentT.

I did something similar with PrevT. Once or twice we reexamined goals but not necessarily at the end of the year.

I saw PrevT several years. When our therapy ended she made a cassette tape for me that she gave me at our last visit. She recorded on the cassette her thoughts about my progress, strengths, growth, her hopes for my future. She told me she also cared about me, hoped I would stay in touch, wished me well, etc. It was quite touching.

She was the best T....

Yeah i do. Pretty informally. I feel like im more conscious for it this year than previous years, noticeably more integrated. That in itself feels like a lot of progress.

I find "recaps" to not only be beneficial but neccessary. I need to look at the big picture and perhaps it can help her see any gaps that could be worked on. However having just done such a recap in October, I don't think a full year recap is necessary next session especially since I'm only going to be seeing her every six weeks now.

She has in the past mentioned things especially when it was a difficult year. Like the year my dad died and I had to deal with all the emotional stuff associated with it. She said she was glad the year was over and she was hopeful it would be an easier year for me.
