I have a medical card but my mom believes I have nothing to be depressed about.(she's stronger than me on everything so...) I really want help(to be genuinly happy and not have to act) so what should } do? I don't drive nor is a close psycotherapy office...I knew I should have just toughed it out b/c of this. She mocks me also when I'm out of the room...
Any help is appresiated and thanks for reading. |

Is there public transportation, near you? Taxi, bus, train services? That maybe only way. Lest there's online services that accept your insurance coverage. And if under 18, there may be need, to have your parents permission.

It's really hard when family doesn't understand at all what is going on or the need for help ... I hope you can find some way of getting the help you need and deserve to find. if you can't physically get somewhere have you looked into online therapy as an option

She sounds abusive. I am so sorry. Can you insist on getting help, and fight her until she gives in?

Thank you...I just...I don't want to argue with her. She's got all these health problems and things...that...and I hate fighting/arguing...

Curious, your mom may be in denial about her own mental health. Mental health usually follows physical health, the exception are those people who are hopeful for the best outcome and in the meantime think, speak and act positively. Other folks, instead of admitting to it, they will do anything to deny it even if that means belittling and minimizing the feelings of others. That behavior somehow "proves" to them that they are mentally stronger.
I don't like what she's doing to you but I want to encourage you to have compassion on her because if she's in denial, you are so many steps ahead of her in admitting to your difficulties and seeking help. It would be so easy for bitterness to creep in because of how she treats you. Bitterness will take what you're feeling now to a whole other level. Accept the fact that she may never understand but get the help that you need by any means necesary. During the process of your therapy you'll learn how to express yourself to your mom in a way that will empower you and that will make her back off.

you ARE important
 i'm like you, i was (and still am) a dependant back when i first started going for treatment. i went through it alone.. my country does not have insurance thing though; for public healthcare, they offered subsidies to all citizens. but i remember feeling alone, and going in secrecy made me feel more alone.really hoping you'll get the help you need you're thinking of getting treatment, and that's a good thing! i applaud you for your bravery. hope things go well with your mom

I know exactly what you are talking about. When I was your age (sounds cliché, doesn't it?) my mother and I fought like cats and dogs, but I still remained under her thumb for too long. Get help as soon as you can--please.
