There are typically free mental health crisis services if you are in a crisis, or therapists in training who will see clients for a very low sliding scale, sometimes as little as like $15 per hour. There are also church organizations that may offer some complimentary counseling, and often some other local services like for youth or domestic violence victims or certain other groups that may be cheap or free.

In addition to non-profits, sometimes universities also offer free or low-cost therapy provided by grad students in training.

There are a ton of free support groups in big and medium sized cities, are you in an urban area?

I have medical assistance so I don't have to pay for sessions, maybe you should look into that.
