I'm so disappointed. Today's session I felt like I was talking to a stranger. Or that everything out of Ts voice was like the teacher in Charlie Brown. I couldn't stand it anymore and just started getting really defensive, threatened to terminate, etc.

I feel more grounded now and I know we will process it but part of me wants to walk away before I discover more proof that T isn't who I thought/hoped.

I just want to check into a hotel and eat 100 Swedish Fish and M&Ms. Will tomorrow be better or worse do you think?

I have had ruptures where I felt that same way: unheard, disconnected, challenged, kind of like a nightmare. They did get better, I very often felt a lot better the next day, or at least within a few days.

I think it's very hopeful that you are feeling more grounded and will be able to process it. Your fear is to find "more proof" she's fake, but actually, perhaps you'll find more proof she's real.

I didn't like feeling a divide between me and my T, but later it reassured me she wasn't ********ting me all the time, helped her seem more real actually.
Thanks for this!

100 Swedish fish and M&Ms sounds perfect. As I may have mentioned before, my T's office is conveniently situated around the corner from this bulk candy place and I often stop there after therapy to reward/console myself. My thing is jelly bellies though. Occasionally I like liquorice allsorts. It's like my T and my dentist have a thing going where they drum up business for each other. But why do you have to go to a hotel?

It IS highly distressing that your T is actually the teacher from Charlie Brown and has been deceiving you all this time and pretending to be a T. Anyone would be upset and threaten to quit. Have some Swedish fish now and then text her saying it was uncool to misrepresent herself like that. If she's worth anything she'll have learned to speak normally by next week and you can put this behind you.
Thanks for this!

I wanted to go to a hotel to just be alone instead of going home. I'm home now but I actually do have Swedish Fish here so that's good.

Thanks for the support all!

Pardon my ignorance, but what are Swedish Fish?

Oh... not pickled herring then. (No, I knew that actually.)

I'm feeling a little better. Embarrassed. I hope we can patch things up next week.
