Hi Everyone,
I was just wondering if anyone has done an outpatient program. Can you tell me what it is like and if it helped you or not. I have OCD and it is time a drastic step. Did the program help you?
Thanks for this!

Outpatient is a broad range... There's 1x a week therapy for an hour a week at a community mental health clinic that's considered outpatient. There's intensive outpatient, which is more like 5x a week for several hours a day. Most people here are doing outpatient in some capacity. They have outpatient CBT, DBT, ACT programs through use of groups. It really depends on the program...

IOP programs vary in configuration. IOP at the hospital I use simply means patients are on the mental health floor during the day, attend the same groups as those inpatient, see a pdoc daily on the floor, and go home after groups are done for the day. There is another level of outpatient that consists of classes in the evening I think in a separate area completely. You really will just need to find out how your program works.
