He has a quirky sense of humor and lots of floor-to-ceiling bookshelves, so there's lots of weird stuff. Don't know if he brought it in himself or they are gifts from clients. My favorites:
  • Plastic fish that sings
  • Skull (hope it's not real)
  • Voodoo doll
  • Gumball machine (with real gum)
  • Antique balancing scale (maybe because he's a Libra?)
  • Magician's hat

  • Plastic fish that sings - Used in his Jungian sand tray
  • Skull - A souvenir of his first patient
  • Voodoo doll - A transfer object for role playing
  • Gumball machine (with real gum) - He likes gum between sessions
  • Antique balancing scale - For weighing the brain before and after therapy
  • Magician's hat - Placed on patient's head for diagnosis

I really don't know what T has in her office that's weird. I don't look around. I look out the window. I talk. I leave. The end.

She once had an empty wine bottle in her trash can. I wouldn't have noticed it, but she pulled it out as we walked in (guess I was her first client that day), and said, "I should probably get rid of this." Apparently it was from a meeting the night before.

I'm always fascinated by the books on the shelf.

Ex-T had all kinds of frog paraphernalia, which I found odd. She liked frogs, so people gifted them to her.

Whoa...a wine bottle in her trash can? That's a little weird. Maybe she has her own set of unhealthy coping mechanisms?!? (Just kidding.)

my ts office is pretty generic and boring. she does have a pile of river rock on the floor that catches my attention..its not even pretty river rock..just the boring grey stuff they use for landscaping. I wonder if she gives it to people to use as worry stones.

I was sure that I know how emdr machines look like, e.g. like that: Strangest object in T's officeStrangest object in T's office
But when I googled "emdr machine" as you've suggested, I found also something like this: Strangest object in T's office
Strangest object in T's officeStrangest object in T's office
My only excuse can be that it was turned off, at least 5m from my couch and turned around so I couldn't see these small lights... The mystery is solved Thank you

But it means that it is nothing weird so next time I have to have a good look in the office to find something weird

I'm surprised you need a tripod for an EMDR box. Couldn't it be mounted on the wall or placed on a shelf?

I have no idea how it works but from the picture it looks that at the end there are some numbers, so I imagine that I should watch these small lights while my T can see these numbers and that's why it is on tripod (as hanging on the wall would make it extremely difficult)

PS. Sorry for stealing this thread

i guess its on a tripod so it can be easily moved. like in front of the client whereever they are sitting, or into a different room. my T shares his EMDR machine and its on a tripod so people borrow it.

You sure that it was "real" wine? The reason I ask is that each year I bring in a bottle of sparkling grape juice, that looks like a wine bottle, and we celibate another year of me being SI free, I'm up to 3 now. Could be something like that.
